Digital broadcasting is going to replace traditional analogue technology in 2012. In Europe the broadcasting standard for digital signals is DVB-T. DVB stands for Digital Video Broadcasting and the key feature is, it is free to air. These signals available can be received anywhere.
There are five technologies for delivering the digital content, terrestrial (via antenna transmitters), by cable, by satellite, by handhelds and by Internet.
The benefits for the consumer is there could be no costs involved because the signals can be received by FTA (or Free To Air) channels.
